Asexually Reproducing for Millions of Years
Rotifers aren’t as popular with the general public, but they are quite special. One class of rotifers are female-only, and have been asexually reproducing for over 40 million years. You can find rotifers in potted plants, ponds, rivers, and even hot, thermal vents. When their homes dry out, rotifers dehydrate into a tun, awaiting better and wetter days to come. Our rotifer necklace is an ode to these hardy little animals and it makes a great gift for ecologists, deep-sea explorers, marine researchers, and microbiologists.
